The Chamber Choir
SonorEnsemble was founded by Hanna Remes in the autumn of 2002. The choir premiered in the A-degree (Diploma of Choral Conducting) concert of its conductor Hanna Remes in Sibelius Academy 2004 where they performed the cantata "Un Soir de Neige" of Francis Poulenc. At the moment there are about 20 devoted members in the choir. The choir aims at a sonorous sound and vocal harmony as well as an expressive performance. The repertoire is versatile ranging from classical music to pop/jazz genre.
SonorEnsemble’s annual traditions include Christmas concert in the Uspenski Cathedral and Summer Concert in the Seurasaari Open-Air Museum. The choir also performs abroad and has participated in international choir competitions. In addition, the choir is involved in Hanna Remes’s doctoral thesis project at University of the Arts Helsinki. Although the ambitions are high, the members also want to enjoy relaxed moments, joy of music and travelling together. Memorable moments from recent years include concerts in Provence and Rome (in the years 2015 and 2016, respectfully) and competition in Malaga in the spring 2017. In the year 2018 SonorEnsemble is looking forward to Hanna’s third thesis exam and competition in Corfu.
